The present work assessed the alliance of microbial electrochemical technologies (METs) and fermentation in a two-step process for electro-bioconversion carbon dioxide (CO2) into elongated chemical building blocks. electro bio-reduction CO2 acetic acid ethanol (EtOH:HAc) at 1-to-1 ratio is linked to subsequent elongation step produce C4 C6 compounds. Key operational conditions each were assessed. parameters considered first pH, both hydrogen partial pressures. Concerning second stage, selected acetate ratio, availability. aim was steer stage's performance obtain higher value products. Reached EtOH:HAc proportion over 1:1 when fed with CO2, H2 availability pH around 5.3. Formed product reinforced follow-up chain processes. got up compounds 7.0, H2. Outcomes demonstrated that crucial factor overall process. conversion efficiency 38% being transformation limiting step. 1 kg system resulted production 0.38 acids (C4-C6). In other words, m3 (normal conditions) captured firstly 0.90 CC2 then, 0.75 CC4-C6 are finally acquired. presented results pave ground improving selectivity during reduced commodity chemicals from electricity.
